 Ann M. PerrySmith -
Ceramic artists Gerald Smith and Ann PerrySmith bring over 20 years of experience, respectively, to their joint studio business, PerrySmith Pottery. Located in their Snyder, NY home, they gather their artistic inspiration from a variety of different art movements and the world around them. You will see the influence of the Arts & Crafts movement as well as Art Nouveau and life observations throughout their work.
Jerry and Ann occasionally work as a team, allowing them to push their creations in unique directions. They work well together and enjoy the influence felt on each others artistic vision.
Jerry Smith received his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from Buffalo State College with a minor in Design. Additionally, he studied at Munson Williams Proctor and Mohawk Valley Community College where he received his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts.

Gerald Smith and Ann PerrySmith have each been awarded the designation of “Roycroft Renaissance Artisan” in the clay medium. The designation of Roycroft Renaissance Artisan allows both artisans the privilege of applying the trademarked Roycroft mark onto their ceramic artwork. The Roycroft mark has stood for excellence in a given medium since 1906. Jerry and Ann find this ideal exemplifies their life philosophy…to work hard and achieve the best result possible in all they create.
Over the course of the last 20 years, Jerry and Ann have established themselves within the national ceramic arts community. They have had photos of their artwork published in several books on ceramic design and sculpture. The sculptural ceramic vessels and sculptures they create have been shown in national galleries and are in private collections all over the United States. Jerry and Ann have received national award recognition for their ceramic designs.
Exceptional, unique and beautiful are all terms that have been repeatedly used to describe the work Jerry and Ann create. Their philosophy is to produce individual, one of a kind pieces of the highest standard. The artwork they create can be functional, sculptural or in combination of the two. Using design ideals and values that set them apart, they look to the past for inspiration and practical knowledge but with the mind to create for today’s connoisseur. The ceramic art they create will become a treasure of the future.
